Dr. Raul P. de Guzman celebrated his 70th birthday last February 23, 2000 at the U.P. Executive House. A fund raising was held during the celebration, in which proceeds were handed over to the U.P. Foundation, Inc.

The donated sum will be used for the establishment of the Raul P. de Guzman Distinguished Professorial Chair in Public Administration at the National College of Public Administration and Governance (NCPAG) and the Raul P. de Guzman Scholarship Grants for undergraduate students at the NCPAG.

Some members of the cabinet and other officials of the government attended the birthday celebration of Dr. de Guzman. Prsent were Sec. Alfredo Lim, Sec. Gemma Cruz-Araneta, Sec. Jose Pardo, Sec. Diosdado Mendoz, Sr., Sec. Domingo Siazon, Jr., Sec. Ric Tan Legada, Monetary Board Member Melito Salazar, Commissioner Harriet Demetriou, Presidential Asistant Alfin Laya, former Senators Santanina RAsul and Leticia Ramos Shahani, Atty. Estelito Mendoza and President and CEO Remedios Macalincag of DBP. Also present were members of the academe, close associates of Dr. de Guzman, his relatives and friends.
