The Raul
P. de Guzman Foundation, Inc. a non-stock,
non-profit foundation was established on February 23, 1995,
coinciding with the 65th Birthday of Dr. Raul P. de Guzman
and his retirement from the University of the Philippines
(UP).
Dr.
de Guzman had been a faculty member of the
University of the Philippines National College of Public
Administration and Governance (NCPAG) since 1952. He had
served the University in various capacities starting as
an Assistant Professor and later a Dean of the UP National
College of Public Administration and Governance, Vice-President
for Planning and Finance of the UP System, and Chancellor
of the UP Los Baños. Currently, he is Professor Emeritus
and member of the Board of Regents. His service to the University,
which extends over 42 years, includes authoring and co-authoring
several books and publications and conducting scholarly
researches on various concerns. Dr. de Guzman has also acted
as consultant and lecturer to other universities, both local
and international, as well as to many national and international
organizations.
In honor of his
contributions to the field of Public Administration, his
family established the RPG
Foundation, which aims to realize Dr. de
Guzman’s vision to promote meaningful careers in public
service. The foundation has already launched several initiatives,
made possible with the assistance of his colleagues and
friends.
A professorial
chair has been instituted in Dr. de Guzman’s name
for deserving faculty members of the UP NCPAG. The Board
of Trustees of the RPG Foundation
has also established an RPG Scholarship for qualified students
of the National College of Public Administration and Governance,
and for qualified students of other colleges with potential
for careers in public service.
